“Who we are matters. This team embodies that every day: skilled, passionate, and genuinely invested in every client.”
What we bring
Six principles that shape our work.
These are the commitments behind every project we take on. Each one earns its place because the work is better when all six are present.
Curiosity
We learn the world you serve before we touch the one we’ll build. Your organization has its own audiences, pressures, and priorities, and the work is better when we understand all three before a single wireframe exists.
Honesty
Public-good work runs on trust. You will always know where the build stands, what is working, what needs attention, and what we would do next if it were ours.
Care
Every screen, every interaction, every line of code is treated like someone depends on it, because in the work you do, someone always does.
Generosity
We share our time, our experience, and our recommendations openly. You and the people you serve are the reason we do this work, and that shows up in how we spend our hours, not just how we bill them.
Stewardship
We stay long after launch day. The missions you support run year-round, and the digital platforms behind them deserve the same kind of steady, ongoing attention.
Humility
We keep our ego out of the work. The people you serve are the ones who matter, and the work is judged by what it does for them.
who you'll work with
Meet the leadership team behind your project.
The leadership team that runs Materiell is directly involved in your project. They are on your calls, in your inbox, and across the table at kickoff, and they stay there through launch and beyond.
Every agency needs someone making sure the foundation holds. For Materiell, that person is Kat Green, Owner & President, with over 20 years of financial strategy and operational leadership behind every decision she makes. She reads a financial landscape the way most people read a room, identifying growth opportunities early, flagging risks before they surface, and mapping a path forward when the obvious one doesn't exist. That foresight is what keeps Materiell and its clients ahead of problems, not reacting to them.
Kat builds client relationships the way she runs a company, with honesty, intention, and a view that extends well past the current quarter. That combination of financial sharpness, hands-on leadership, and genuine care for how things are done is what keeps Materiell growing on purpose, not by accident.
Personally
Outside the office, Kat cooks from scratch, crafts elaborate birthday piñatas, and can lose an entire morning at a farmers market. What looks like leisure is really the same instinct she brings to Materiell: taking something complex, figuring out how all the pieces fit, and making sure the finished product holds together. Her two boys keep her grounded, and on fair weather days, golf rewards exactly the kind of patience she brings to running a company.
Susan Daniero built Materiell on a principle most agencies talk about but few actually practice: treat every client like they're your only one. That principle has held up across 20+ years of small business and sales management in the Washington, DC area. Enterprise, government, non-profit, education, association, legal. Susan has served clients across every one of these sectors, and each one got the same standard of attention. She's managed hundreds of website projects and built a delivery record, on time and on budget, that she'll put up against anyone's. She holds a Google Cloud™ Sales Credential.
Personally
When it comes to loyalty, Susan is a fiercely devoted San Francisco 49ers fan, which surprises no one who knows her, because when Susan commits, she commits completely. That goes for her family, her clients, and apparently her football team.
Eighteen years of account management teaches you something: the difference between a good project and a great one is whether someone is watching every detail on your behalf. That's Laura Hanrahan's job as Accounts Director at Materiell, and she's been doing it longer than most. She manages multifaceted, multi-year engagements across sales, marketing, higher education, and publishing, and for every one of those clients, she's the single point of contact who knows the full picture. You never have to explain your project twice. Laura spearheaded Materiell's first federal contract with the Social Security Administration, a high-stakes engagement that required the same precision she brings to every partnership, regardless of scale. She holds a Google Cloud™ Sales Credential.
Personally
Before account management, Laura was a two-sport Division I athlete and alpine ski racing coach. She still carries that training with her: the focus, the composure under pressure, and apparently the aim. These days, her sport of choice is target archery.
The best operations work is the kind nobody notices: no bottlenecks, no surprises, no scrambling. As Operations Director at Materiell, Jess Bradley brings 8+ years of operations leadership to making sure that's exactly how every project feels. She designs the systems, coordinates the teams, and builds the infrastructure that means your project starts on solid ground. Jess turns big-picture business objectives into plans that teams can actually execute, the kind that move from a shared doc to a finished deliverable. She holds a Leadership Essentials Certification from Cornell University.
Personally
She grew up playing mandolin and guitar in her parents' bluegrass band, and she carries that sense of timing into how she runs operations: knowing when to push, when to hold back, and how to keep everyone playing in sync.
Deven Cao has spent over a decade at Materiell proving that accessible design and beautiful design are the same thing. You just have to care enough to do both. As Creative Director, he builds digital experiences that meet 508 standards and WCAG guidelines from the first sketch, not as a compliance checkbox, but because that's what thoughtful design looks like. He also leads hands-on CMS training for clients and development teams, so you're not left guessing after launch. He holds a Google Cloud™ Sales Credential.
Personally
When he is not designing, Deven is kayaking or hiking with his dog Noa, or booking his next trip based entirely on where the food is best. His top three so far: Barcelona, Lake Como, and Sayulita. That instinct for chasing down what is genuine and well-crafted shows up in his design work too, where he is always after the version that feels right, not just the one that ships.
After ten+ years of senior web development, Jeremy Englert builds for the brief you haven’t written yet, and he has gotten very good at knowing the difference. He leads development at Materiell across Payload, WordPress, and Craft, fluent across the full stack and comfortable at every layer. What sets him apart: he can explain what's happening and why in plain language, especially when something breaks or needs to change. You'll always know where your project stands.
Personally
Away from the keyboard, Jeremy is a devoted Arizona Diamondbacks baseball fan, the kind who tracks stats and watches spring training. At the keyboard, he brings that exact same intensity to every new framework, tool, or technology that hits his field. If there's something worth learning, he's already three tutorials deep. He also claims that mosquitoes don't bite him, which is either a genuine superpower or deeply unfair to the rest of us.
